Welcome to Hamro panauti ! हाम्रो पनौती!!
Panauti Jatra is a combination of the palanquin and chariot festivals. It is the nine-day festival starting off on the tenth day of the bright fortnight of Jyestha (May-June) and ending on the third day of the dark fortnight in Ashad (June-July). During the festival Goddess Brahmayani and God Mahadev are taken out on different portable shrines carried on shoulder poles whereas God Bhairava and Goddess Bhadrakali are pulled on chariots. Panauti Jatra is unique in the sense that Lord Mahadev: one of the Hindu Trinity that does not accept blood, is honored and revered along with other Tantric gods and goddesses that accept blood of sacrificial animals.panauti jatra
The Jatra starts off on the tenth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Jyestha (May-June). On this day Hindu priests called Achhanju perform rituals to the Tantric gods and goddesses; thereafter the concerned temple caretakers bring them out from their temples and place them at an open public places. Men, women and children with bronze or wicker basketful of offerings visit all these gods and goddesses and make offerings to them in the morning. From this day on until the fourth day of the festival, everybody becomes busy with the preparation for celebrating the festival.

On 5/5/12, through out the globe people celebrated the Climate Impacts Day initiated by 350.org and climatedots.org with the global slogan "It's time to connect dots between climatic change and extreme weather". So to cherish such remarkable day a small gathering was held in Triveni Ghat Area, Panauti. In one of the oldest towns of Nepal, climate change is threatening a way of life that generations of people have come to accept. Panauti, a quaint little town is rich in fertile land with agriculture being the main occupation of the people. But over the past few years, the monsoons are shifting patterns and are quite erratic while temperatures are increasing every year, a symptom of global warming that many parts of South Asia are experiencing. Dried up and polluted rivers of Panauti has put the fishing communities in jeopardy. The students from Nava Ratna English Secondary School, Hamro Panauti members and locals from Panauti participated in the event to connect dots between climatic change and extreme weather. The interaction between young and parent generation was held and the school children perform the presentation on the climatic change and its impact.
